Maybe Not So Orthodox After All

Clive Staples Lewis has been perhaps the single most useful tool of Satan since his appearance in the Christian community sometime around World War II. With his strong belief in non-denominational Christianity, which he termed "mere Christianity", and his apparent orthodoxy in doctrine, the influence of his pen has reached across many years. When the light of God's Holy Bible is focused upon his writings, however, his heresy and outright love of Satan comes into bold focus.
Though a highly acclaimed and widely published "Christian" author, when judged by his own words with the King James Bible it becomes clear that he was indeed a fool in the most extreme sense of the word, yet a very subtle one that was and is extremely useful to his father the devil.
Thank you,
digbydolben for this most enlightening link!

GAH.

One wonders if she's ever read Lewis, or merely clipped together popular soundbites?
Hi, by the way. Browsed onto your journal via

Date: 2003-12-17 05:47 pm (UTC)This fairly Gnostic-sounding paragraph is based on the exegesis of Psalm 82 offered by Jesus in John 10:31-39 (http://www.biblegateway.com/cgi-bin/bible?language=english&passage=John+10%3A31-39&version=NIV). Add to that Matthew 17:20 (http://www.biblegateway.com/cgi-bin/bible?passage=MATT+17:20&language=english&version=NIV&showfn=on&showxref=on) and other similar passages. As far as I can tell therefore it is entirely in line with mainstream Christianity. I have heard several television preachers, such as Benny Hinn, make similar kinds of statements.

Date: 2003-12-17 07:23 pm (UTC)TBH I don't know much about Benny Hinn. He's one of those faith healers and is... I think... Pentecostal. But the one time I caught him on TV he was making statements to the effect that we could wield the power of God if we had proper faith.
"Your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods..." Heh.
Without paying for the material on that CD the site promoted, which I'm sure is horrid and shrill, I imagine that the prominent placement of the quote I mentioned insinuates that they consider it to be C. S. Lewis's prime heresy.

I haven't read your entire journal, but you seem to be Catholic, or at least an Anglo-Catholic who tends in that direction.

I think I have seen this or that by Howard, and it seemed to be sensible.
