Three 85-ton power transformers were installed at the World Trade Center site yesterday, a major step in replacing a substation destroyed in the 2001 attack.
My impression looking out the cafeteria window that the reconstruction of 7 WTC is beginning to take off was confirmed by this story in today's Post. I a few months' time we will once again have very little view to the south, and the fifteen storey high American flag which shields the atrium from the direct sun will no longer be necessary, though that doesn't mean that it will be removed right away. A good time will be when 101 Barclay Street once again has an entrance on Barclay Street.
There is a growing feeling that we don't need all these reminders of 9/11, though we won't be over it until professional baseball eschews the patriotic hymn which has transformed the informal and welcome seventh inning stretch into a mandatory ritual.
Not that I have been to a game myself since the Giants played the Dodgers at the Polo Grounds, or expect to go again very soon. Once a philosopher, the Frenchman said, twice a pervert.
