USS Liberty Cover-Up

Yahoo! News - Cover-Up Alleged in Probe of USS Liberty

WASHINGTON - A former Navy attorney who helped lead the military investigation of the 1967 Israeli attack on the USS Liberty that killed 34 American servicemen says former President Lyndon Johnson and his defense secretary, Robert McNamara, ordered that the inquiry conclude the incident was an accident.

All that is new is the coming apart of the cover-up. And the public warning that the national interest of Israel is not that of the United States.

It is my belief that most governments lie to the public about all sorts of things. It just doesn't surprise me anymore. At least we're more aware of it now.

What ever happened to "Kennedy's Children?" Just how innocent were we all back then? (I prefer to think of it as innocence and not ignorance but call it whatever you will.)

Very interesting. We just had a rather good documentary on the Liberty play up here in Canada, last week I do believe, and in particular the role that Moshe Dayan probably played in it. So it's doubly interesting to see this in your post.
