Odd sort of a meetup yesterday evening. I think the only folks who actually met up were those who know each other from last month. Don't blame the folks at meetup.com. They gave everyone a chance to vote on the venue. And I voted for the Remote Lounge on the Bowery, because the bowling alley on the Chelsea Piers is too hard to get to. Of course I had never been there, though I now recall seeing a writeup in FHM or Stuff or something of that ilk. At the Remote you don't see anyone, except on the black and white monitor on your control console, or talk to anyone, except on the console telephone. Between the one and the other is a joystick to control the camera you are looking through, and buttons to select the camera out of the fifty odd upstairs and downstairs. If you see someone who looks interesting, there is a big button with the icon of a paper plane. Push it and the person you are looking at gets a message to pick up the phone... I presume the big button with a picture of a martini rings the bartender. All drinks seemed to be eight dollars, including my Laphroaig, which made up for a lot, and the next customer's cranberry something or other. And as one of the early birds I got a Meetup tee shirt. Life is good. Well, tolerable. Sort of.

You can have an 0CA orlando sobor t-shirt
too if you like as someone from Indiana
is sending a bunch that the young people
in his church wanted hosanna to have.

as to lj meet you say it was limited to people
from first meet and wasnt first meet 2 people
or am I misremembering the chronicle?

so in that case to be one of the early comers
does not necessarily mean that the late comer
did not get a t shirt too?
always solicitous of the 11th hour

it was for young people at
orlando, they gave them one a day
and the youth of this parish used
only one and saved the rest...
but young people tend to be sometimes
smaller at least in the gut area
dont they? so we'll see..
