The comparison of Bush with Hitler is wearing a bit thin these days.
The thought of Bush nuking Iran exists only in the fever dreams of the Left. (Though we may have to bomb either their nuclear facilities or their terrorist training camps before long. Me, I'd have been funding the domestic opposition to the mullahs long since.)
The invocation of the Blessed Franz as an exemplar for our times sounds apt until one asks, "where is the martyr whom our administration has put to death for the faith?"
Franz' refusal was not predicated on the idea that the government was evil but the fact that the war was unjustified by traditional Catholic moral criteria. (After all that war was against the very great evil of Soviet Communism.)
To me Mr. Bush more resembles the German Christians who would fall for anything because they had nothing left to stand for. Or the Italian Fascists who kowtowed to the Nazis because they knew that they themselves were wannabees -- as Bush defers to the Israelis...
...INDEED, the forerunner of the "man on horseback." He is a moral idiot, which Hitler, monstrous as he was, was not. Bush and his ilk are paving the way, as the corrupt elements of oligarchic, Republican Rome, Weimar society, Ancien Regime aristocrats and Jacobins did, for the fiend who will turn the society's traditional morality INSIDE OUT, because he understands it and hates it.
Bush has violated all standards of decent, honorable and just warfare, broken treaty obligations concerning torture and treatment of prisoners of war, committed criminal espionage on American citizens (i.e. violated the Church Amendment), distorted intelligence in order to fabricate a cassus belli against a state that was no threat to America, attempted to hide (with his commutation of Libby and other things) the evidence of the "fixing" of intelligence, and stolen at least one election (with the disenfranchising by DBI and his brother in Florida of non-felon voters in 2000). All of this may have been done by other, brighter apparatchiks, but the Bush "dauphin" is at the top of the most criminal and the most technically catastrophic Presidential Administration in anybody's lifetime.
He and Cheny deserve impeachment on many, many accounts. The fact that the Republicans attempted to impeach a sitting President on account of lies about his sex life and the Democrats do not prefer impeachment charges against this criminal Republican Administration is AMPLE sign of the decadence of American democracy.
I wouldn't bother to "hate" what I have contempt for, and, as for you, you've obviously determined to become one of the last pathetic defenders of a regime that even its own party is turning on, in disgust.
