thejennatheory has posted something in orthodoxy which I would like to call to your attention. Yes, it is about the Lebanon. No, it isn't just for paleocons, Orthodox Christians, or even generic Christians. The original is here.
Frank, I kinda liked this and thought you might too posting it here rather than by private email as it will look better with fancy bold type You are driving in a car at a constant speed. Been reading you and methodius and the things you post but saw this article elsewhere. I think maybe Israel has led us down the garden path one too many times. This isn't tit for tat by a long shot. God help us all.
...the failure of so many Western Christians to understand that the most rabid right-wing Zionists in Israel--who are extremely influential in Likud, et. al.--hate the Christian presence in the "Holy Land" almost as much as they hate the Muslim one. The evidence of foreclosures, of harassment of Arab Christian children--it's all there.
Also, I am beginning to suspect that the Dispensationalists rabid support of Israel in this country ALSO involves animosity towards and disdain of Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism, which are the chosen Christian denominations of Arabs.
Ignorance is the case here. Your average "dispensationalist" has never even heard the term "dispensationalism", and much less has knowledge of Arab Christianity in the slightest.
"According to Jewish law, during a time of battle and war, there is no such term as 'innocents' of the enemy. All of the discussions on Christian morality are weakening the spirit of the army and the nation and are costing us in the blood of our soldiers and civilians."
I had no real sense of what Lebanon was until my older brother came home from Vietnam reading Kahil Gibran. Seems a shame that such a wonderful land should see such suffering, going back to the destruction of the Ceders Of Lebanon in WWI.
off topic but this from bill samsonoff
