Swinburne taught here at Yale Div this past year.

What was he like?

And is Dick Wood still up there?

I never had the chance to meet him, unfortunately. He came in a pinch after UManchester wouldn't let Graham Ward come (grrrrr....).

Dean Wood? Here?! Hahaha. You've missed all the scandal at YDS over the last four years.

We went through four deans in three years, almost.

No, Wood's not here anymore. I think he's in Japan now.

Japan

It figures.

I don't keep up with the scandals. Or with the former Earlham philosophy department, it seems. I took Plato with Dick back in... oops, never mind!

Were you being funny about Green Egg? You seem so conservative. That magazine is gonzo for years now. I made a killing selling the back issues on eBay. :)

Either about Green Egg

[identity profile] arisbe.livejournal.com 2003-06-30 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
or about Faith and Family (which John, who sent me the meme, edits), or both. But GE is the one I used to read -- and enjoy. Maybe I'm just a neopagan wannabee. More that than a Roman Catholic wannabee (been there, done that). As for being funny, well, maybe at least one guy I sent a blind copy to will have a small laugh at the expense of the more pious.

As for conservative, golly, didn't I catch echoes of Heinlein and Rand in GE? And isn't it the neopagans and Thelemites on my friends list who grok my politics?

You have a point. I used to read it too even though I identified with almost none of it. I guess I am quite conservative as compared to the PC crowd or maybe I'm just old fashioned. Who knows.

Green Egg

I didn't identify either, but I thought, what a strange and wonderful world to have such people in it, people I couldn't even imagine in New Jersey in... never mind what decade.
