I decided I was going to listen to some music today, so I pulled out the earphone jack which I use as an off switch, and heard voices speaking numbers: One hundred and four, one oh four, one hundred and four, that sort of thing, or maybe the other way around. I clicked the rat game and the voices continued over the audio, but went away when I clicked away from it. They didn't come back when I put Raqs Sharqi on.

My undergraduate mentor (1966-69) is finally on email -- by the time the world used email, he was bored with computers. Now he has my Peirce paper, and of course I am considerably anxious about his reaction. (My old roommate, the real Peirce expert, loved it, and so did the Anthropop who chaired my defense, in whose classroom I had first heard of Scottish Common Sense Realism and Louis Agassiz, the keys to Peirce's intellectual development.)

And the Princeton Review called me in for an audition tomorrow. I hope they are less concerned with the Overage, Overweight, Overqualified issues than Kaplan evidently was. If all goes well I will have a somewhat more reliable gig than the one with the Orthodox family uptown, starting with paid training this weekend. If y'all wish me luck, as you did for the Nyack thing, it'll work out.

So what's with those numbers?
