Roberts did not mention his work on the case in his 67-page response to a Senate Judiciary Committee questionnaire, released Tuesday. The committee asked for "specific instances" in which he had performed pro bono work, how he had fulfilled those responsibilities, and the amount of time he had devoted to them." -- The LA Times

Very interesting. At least we can say the man has some integrity when it comes to doing his job, whatever his personal beliefs.

As I understood the article, his law firm expected its members to do some *pro bono* work, and the guys at the firm offered Roberts this case as a way to fulfill his *pro bono* responsibility. My understanding is that he could have said no, and worked on some other *pro bono* case instead. But maybe I'm wrong.
