Late Monday afternoon, but morning for me. Did manage to sleep from seven thirty to twelve thirty, went out for breakfast at Fine and Shapiro, would like to sleep again, but must leave to teach in an hour or so. At least that will be four hours and not twelve, in a part of town with good memories, not the hospital where I spent a month last year. Though I must say, one of the night nurses was particularly glad to see me, and I her. She looks even better with my glasses on, not always the case.

Apologies for postings unmade, journals unread, telephone calls unreturned. Should be back to normal in two weeks or so.

Have been reading and thinking about poor Max Scheler. Some wonderful anecdotes in Alice von Hildebrandt's memoir of her husband Dietrich, also a philosopher well worth reading and thinking about, though not necessarily his most notorious work.

Forgot to take meds. Must go and do so.

Bless you all for listening.

When I said last week that the job was starting again Sunday, I imagined that would be Sunday evening. Of course they called me Saturday afternoon to say that because Sunday begins five hours into the shift starting that night, I was expected to be there Saturday night, all night. Obviously, if I had known that I would have slept later, and been in better shape today.
