Republicans Backing Law of the Sea Treaty

1. LOST would hand over to international bureaucrats the power to regulate 70% of the world’s resources;
2. LOST would give international bureaucrats the power to assess taxes on the United States;
3. LOST would provide for a multi-national court system to enforce its provisions; and,
4. LOST would ratify assertions of communist China that the treaty confers jurisdiction over the South China Sea and, by inference, Taiwan.

Hey, thanks for the plug but all credit is due Congressman Paul's Liberty Caucus (http://www.thelibertycommittee.org/) (whose work I greatly admire and whose news alerts are always informative and welcome, even on those occasions when I take a different view than the Honorable Ladies and Gentlemen). I haven't even heard of this treaty or read any more than what I've just posted about it. Well, except that snobscure said he's noticed in the CIA Factbook that several countries are a member of the treaty.

I'm done with my semiweekly torture statistics homework but unable to find the motivation to dig around and educate myself.

The treaty I knew about. I thought it was dead. One of the people behind it is married to a friend of my wife, so I was aware of it. It is pretty bad.
