The editor I am writing college profiles for called to say he has suggested my name as a book editor for a media company owned by a controversial Mexican religious order. (Some of you may know what I mean, others won't need to, for now. Sorry.) Please remember me in your meditations.

I seem to have been unable to respond to any comments on the link I posted yesterday, for which I apologize, though my commenters have been conducting a good dialogue without any need for my moderation.

My daughter seems to be graduating. At least she brought a cap and gown home. Though she does need to get two incompletes changed before commencement, and will have less time to do that after Sunday. Because she seems to have a job, too -- they called today to make sure they had the spelling right for her business cards -- Srsti is a somewhat unusual name -- the "r" is a vowel in Sanskrit.

And if I use any more dashes here I will start to channel Emily Dickinson, all of whose poetry can be sung to the tune of The Yaller Rose of Texas, and we all know what that was about.

Maybe I need to eat some meat.
