Atlanta, Here I Come!

"The Hamdog is a hot dog wrapped in cheese then in a half-pound hamburger patty, then deep fried. The "dog" is then placed on half a hoagie bun and covered with chili. A thick slice of bacon and a fried egg are added on top; the dish is accompanied by French fries (and, in my case, some habanero hot sauce and two imported draft beers). It’s common for two diners to split a hamdog.

"For dessert, my gal, Jean, and her mother, Bev, and I shared a Twinkie that had been dipped in egg wash, then in pulverized Cap’n Crunch cereal, then deep fried. For presentation, the nice people in the kitchen squirted it with artificial chocolate syrup. Hey, this is Elvis food! Enjoy it. Enjoy it very much."

Reading List

Book Meme taken from [livejournal.com profile] joffridus

Bold the ones you've read.
Italicize the ones you've read part of.
Underline the ones you specifically want to read (at least some of).
Add books you think everyone should read.
Read more. Convince others to read some.

#1 The Bible
#2 Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
#3 Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
#4 The Koran
#5 Arabian NightsRead more... )

Oh, dear. Now I see that this was originally -- up to #110 -- a banned books meme. I suppose most of the rest must have been forbidden to somebody at some time or other -- it might be hard to find any in Cuba or Saudi Arabia. The definition of banning is a little vague. I would not object greatly if Lord of the Flies had been removed from a lower school library, and in fact I had questions when my daughter was required to read it in fifth grade.
