Over the River and Through the Woods
Jan. 8th, 2005 01:17 pmFrom Grandmother's house to here. Not so far really. The founder of the Bank made it back in time to die at home, and that was before the Tunnel.
Anyway, there you have the two Mapquest itineraries from Weehawken to West End, one direct, and one closer to the way I actually came, via Oradell, Earlham, Cheesequake, the Paris Hotel, Whittier Hall, Sickles Street, Academy Street, and 115th Street. Though back in the days the way West was via the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Turnpikes and the National Road (US 40). We did however have the use of the internal combustion engine, I admit.
As for the two earlier stages, I could probably find Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, but I have no idea where my parents lived in Westfield during the couple of years I was there. I don't remember it anyway, though I did visit the house next door once, drank Seven Up from a too big glass and got it down my nose.
Interesting exercise.
