For All Victims of Violence All Over the World
By Pauline Oliveros
Saturday, August 28, 5:00-7:45 PM
The Observance begins at 5 PM (ringing begins at 5:30) and runs approximately 2-3/4 hours to 7:45 PM.
You are invited to create a peaceful, respectful event using a bell or bells as your voice.
Please be a listening presence. If it is necessary to speak please do it very quietly without distracting others during the performance. You are invited to help create a peaceful and respectful atmosphere for a memorial. This is a memorial for all those killed by violence around the world. Many will desire to use the time meditatively.
Thank you,

This is the first of this year's 9/11 observances. I very much regret that it is being promoted in part as a protest against the Republican convention; while the contribution of our government to the terrorism in the world is real, it is bipartisan. President Kerry will not reverse or ameliorate it, he will merely make it more efficient, hidden, and sacrosanct.
The second event I want to call your attention to is the outdoor Meeting for Worship to be held on Thursday, September 9, which is also the fourteenth anniversary of the murder of Father Alexander Men, whose eternal memory was celebrated at Nyack College in Manhattan over the weekend.
On the evening of the eleventh itself I hope to be at Great Vespers at St. Michael's.
