At the Meetup
Feb. 26th, 2003 03:05 pmI went to the LJ Meetup last night hoping to meet some of you face to face whose words I have been reading. No luck in that, though I do hope to see some more of you next month, again on Tuesday the 25th, I imagine, February being an even number of weeks this year because there is no Presidential election. (Drat.)
I did meet some nifty people, though, Desmond (
onetonnoodle) and Christopher (
aheadofyou) from Staten Island, who described being a midnight guest of the late Commodore, and Ann (
artemitis), who described spending a Summer at Chatauqua, which was even spookier (not to mention the naked Confederate ghost in the bathtub over the Landmark Tavern, who wasn't there when she visited, or at least not that one could see), and Desmond's sister Jen, who doesn't have an LJ handle yet, and something must be done about that. We really ought to organize something really spooky for Hallowe'en. (Greater New York Mensa's Occult Night just doesn't cut it for me any more.)
Ann is one of those eccentrics who think that Opera is something you sing, rather than a Web browser. Oh well.
I admitted to getting on LJ thanks to the persuasion of a Russian Orthodox Bishop (
seraphimsigrist), which is a bit like describing Borodin as a chemist, though of course he was one. I think. Any way, he would have fit right in.
