Of course I know a couple of you face to face, and this is how I got started. Then I cast a wide net with my interest list. That enabled me to find folks with similar interests here: http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?mode=findsim -- very unusual interests are weighted more in the similarity index than common ones. (This page might only work for paid users.)

Lately I have been reading my Friends of Friends page, and sometimes I read something that makes me want to read more of that person. Again, this may be a paid only feature, but this is the URL: http://www.livejournal.com/users/[your user name]/friendsfriends. (Of course you have to use you own user name.)

Of the 235 odd folks I have friended, 116 even odder ones have friended me back. For which I am grateful.

Maybe it's the Iraq war, but I haven't posted very much lately, and a lot of what I have been posting I have borrowed from a certain John Zmirak, Ph.D.

Many of you have concluded that Dr. Zmirak is the creation of my all too fertile imagination, like John Randolph Burke, Jr. or... Never mind, you're better off not knowing.

I can now prove that this is not the case. Zmirak has not only been shown to exist, but been unmasked as a ruthless anti-Semite by Christopher Hitchens, who is best known for proving that mother Theresa existed by exposing her as a running dog of the imperialist warmongers. Or something.

And Zmirak is, indeed, a penetrating anayist of the intellectual elite around George Bush, who have been planning the Iraq war since before the disputed election of 2000. And this war is widely believed to be in the best interest of Israel if not the United States. Therefore to be critical of the Neoconservative cabal is to be objectively anti-Semitic, in spite of any feelings of friendship, admiration, or gratitude one might have toward the Jewish people.

This is only logic. Stalinst logic. McCarthyite logic. Whatever.

I give you the links on the controversy. If you don't find Mr. Hitchens amusing, I don't blame you. But if you have the slightest interest on who is behind Mr. Bush, I implore you to read the original article.

Zmirak on the Neocons.

Hitchens' attack.

Zmirak's reply.
