M&C was not homoerotic at all (RotK very much so) in spite of a great many opportunities, not only with the two protagonists, but with the young midshipmen, two of whom are good friends.</i.
I'm sure it's not, it stars Russel Crowe afterall. It's just the name. And my twisted sense of humor.
I'll check it out when it comes out on video.
One of the things that really bugged me about RotK was the homoeroticism. It was totally unessecary to add it, it detracted from the ending, and furthermore it hints at this increasingingly prominent complex we have as a society in which we question the sexuality of any male who isn't acting out a violent warrior archtype. The hobbits were suppossed to be a metaphor for the small, peaceful, plain living farmer types who live a life pleasently free from Grand Things. And they went and gayed it all up.
But mostly what bothered me was the endless battle scenes.
Meh. Hollywood.
